Early Childhood
Infants & Toddlers
We consider children a gift of God and desire to minister to their needs in a loving and thoughtful manner. We offer childcare during the worship and Christian Education hours from 9:30am-12:15pm, September through May, and from 9:30am–11:00am in June through August.
Our staff includes program coordinators and committed volunteers who rotate on a weekly basis and can be identified by their nametags. A greeter should be available to receive your child and take any special instructions. We ask that all children be signed in and out and all belongings be labeled clearly. Parents of children ages birth – 3 years will receive a vibrating pager which serves as a notification to pick up their child. If you have more than one child in the Early Childhood Department, a single pager may be used for all children in the same family.
Our nursery program staff seeks to provide a comfortable and safe atmosphere as well as playful stimulation to the babies in our care.
Our toddler program staff provides a Bible story, craft, singing and playtime appropriate to the developmental stage of the children.
Toys and linens used by infants are washed promptly. Toddler toys are sanitized regularly.
We invite parents to consider serving in children’s ministries after 3 months of regular attendance at Knox. We then ask those interested to complete a brief application with references, and attend our "policy and procedures" training class. After six months at Knox, parents may begin to serve.
We do not require that parents volunteer in our Early Childhood programs but we strongly suggest that at least one parent be available once a month for one year or weekly for one semester. Serving in the nursery or toddler programs allows a parent to see how his/her child relates to others and to gain an understanding of the program Knox offers your child. This is also a great way to meet other parents, and makes it possible for others to attend worship or adult education classes. It is our intention to offer the best care we can for all children. To accomplish that goal, we need to hear from you. Please feel free to share your suggestions or concerns with our Early Childhood Director, Julie Straight.
